Space Nordic

Project 2026 - 2029
Nordic Forward: Resilience and competitiveness for 2050 Active

Unlike previous strategic exercises, this project is focused on practical "Research-to-Business" (R2B) scaling and international commercial positioning. We will map and open up access to specialized research infrastructure across Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Sweden. This will lower the barriers for Nordic Nordic Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) looking to develop and test space-qualified technologies. A key part of the project is establishing clear dissemination protocols that bridge the gap between academic breakthroughs and real industrial application. The aim is to make sure regional research results are visible and actionable for businesses.

At the same time, the project will coordinate joint Nordic delegations to major global space events — such as IAC, the Singapore Space Summit, and missions to India. Instead of showing up as separate national delegations, we'll present a unified "Nordic Pavilion" narrative. This collective approach helps build the "Nordic Space" brand and makes the region a more attractive partner for global Tier-1 industrial actors.

Outcome and Nordic added value

The overall goal is to ensure that Nordic companies aren't just participants in high-growth sectors — they're leaders. This includes areas like climate monitoring, secure communications, autonomous navigation, and Arctic situational awareness. By the end of the project, the region will have a living catalogue of its R2B assets, a standardized research-sharing framework, and a proven model for joint international brokerage. There will also be a clear roadmap for keeping these collaborative activities going through existing institutional frameworks. The end result is a more integrated, coherent, and commercially successful Nordic space sector — one with the capability, networks, and shared resources needed to attract large-scale investments and support spin-off projects and additional R2B funding.
