Green and digital e2e-corridors in the Nordics

Project 2025 - 2026 Active

The project will contribute to the international dialogue on green corridors by showcasing a Nordic approach to green and digital end-to-end (e2e) corridors informed by a Nordic testbed. It will also support the green transition of transport in the Nordics by adopting green and digital technologies in Nordic maritime and adjacent transport corridors.

In the long term, the project aims to establish a role model for green and digital corridors among the five Nordic countries, serving as an inspiration for the rest of the world.

The project has the following concrete deliverables:

  • Establish a Nordic cluster of stakeholders for supply chain innovation, engaging transport ecosystem stakeholders, tech providers, and non-profit actors.
  • Provide insights into economic profit and environmental benefits for involved actors and society, by comparing the corridor’s profitability and benefits with other transport routes between Finland and Norway.
  • Utilize the digital infrastructure of VWTnet to enhance data sharing among different actors, improving situational awareness.
  • Address the needs of transport buyers (shippers) by enabling data sharing on delivery times and emissions between involved actors along the corridor.
  • Facilitate the commercialization of new implementable services through the corridor’s operations.

Vision 2030

The project supports Vision 2030 by enhancing sustainability and integration in the Nordic transport ecosystem. It aims to reduce CO2 emissions and environmental impact through green and digital technologies, while promoting alternative fuels.

By establishing green end-to-end (e2e) transport corridors, it connects various transport modes and fosters collaboration among stakeholders, boosting innovation and creating a model for sustainable practices. This integration enhances the competitiveness of Nordic industries and attracts investment, aligning with national sustainability goals and promoting public health.

Project partners

The project is lead by Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE) in a collaboration with VTT, New Icelandic Energy, VASEK, Danish Maritime, SINTEF Energy and RENERGY.

Background

The project is funded under the Nordic Green Mobility program which is one of the eight inititatives running from 2021-2024 launched by the Nordic Ministers of Trade and Industry.
