Background
Quantum technologies are approaching early industrial experimentation, but broad adoption will require
continued research, applied development and realistic pathways from laboratories to use. Across the Nordic countries, strong and complementary capabilities exist in research, infrastructure, emerging companies and industry, while readiness and maturity vary significantly.
This project establishes a Nordic coordination and pathfinding platform with Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden as core partners. Strategic Nordic–Baltic engagement, including Iceland is part of the project, and additional partners can be integrated at later stage. The platform strengthens research–industry pathways, activates end users, and improves readiness for future pilots and private investment in quantum
technologies.
Project objectives
The project focuses on identifying concrete use cases, engaging relevant end users, and preparing the ecosystem for the next phase of industrial adoption. Activities include awareness building, structured matchmaking across the value chain, investor readiness, and coordinated Nordic policy engagement. The coming 5-10 years will define the global quantum industry.
The companies that overcome the valley of death and develop from startups to larger players with global impact, will be strong candidates to become quantum champions. This makes early and coordinated action across the Nordics particularly important. The project is designed as a lightweight and pragmatic first step, creating shared direction, practical collaboration and a foundation for future scaling through national, European and private initiatives.

Nordic added value
The project strengthens Nordic businesses by improving access to quantum technologies, relevant competence, and future markets, while lowering the threshold for engagement through structured pathways and shared knowledge. Small and medium-sized enterprises, startups and industrial end users in particular benefit from Nordic-level scale, visibility, and readiness effects enabled through the project.
Beyond the benefits for Nordic actors, conducting the project at Nordic level also strengthens the region’s position in Europe. A coordinated Nordic voice towards EU initiatives, policy processes and funding programs increases visibility and influence, reduces fragmentation and improves the ability of Nordic actors to participate successfully in European collaborations. This joint positioning enhances the resilience of Nordic innovation ecosystems by pooling resources, aligning priorities and strengthening the region’s capacity to respond to technological, economic and security-related disruptions.
