In 2025, we aim to deepen engagement and explore business opportunities that can deliver tangible results for the Nordic semiconductor ecosystem. Activities planned include webinars, an updated report on the state of the Nordic semiconductor industry, and a physical Nordic Chip Collaboration event following the success of the first meet-up in Helsinki December 2024.
Additionally, the project will explore participating in a Nordic delegation trip to a global semiconductor event to promote regional capabilities, hold a physical project group meeting to align on future actions, and conclude the year with a collaborative workshop. The focus remains on fostering partnerships, addressing common challenges, and building the region’s profile internationally.
Project objectives
The year 2025 will build on the network and activities established in 2024 and company feedback. The primary objective of this initiative is to enhance cooperation across the semiconductor industries in the Nordics through the formalised collaboration between the Trade and Investment Promotion Organisations (TPOs) in Finland, Norway and Sweden. PROJECT INFORMATION Project title: Nordic Chip Collaboration
Estimated duration and project period: 1.1.2025-31.12.2025 Topic: Collaboration in sustainable semiconductors and microelectronics industry, across Finland, Sweden and Norway
The expected outcome of collaboration is to strengthen the Nordic’s position globally and contribute to European resilience.
The main objectives can be described as follows:
- Create a common value proposition for the Nordic semiconductor industry and position the Nordics in key markets.
- Identify business and investment opportunities for Nordic industries and ecosystems.
- Establish the Nordics as a sustainability and innovation hub for the European and global semiconductor value chain (technology and production).
- Attract talent and competence to address skill shortages.
Target groups
The target groups for encouraging semiconductor and chip industry collaboration project across the Nordics span across multiple sectors and levels, from industry leaders and their ecosystems, business developers and research institutions to investors. Collaboration across these groups is key to fostering innovation, enhancing competitiveness, and addressing strategic needs in the rapidly evolving global semiconductor market.
The target groups are:
- Industry Stakeholders
- Research and Development Institutions and Competence Centres
- Investors and Financial Institutions
- Technology Ecosystem Partners
- Workforce and Talent Pool
- Environmental and Sustainability Advocates
- Cross-Border and International Organizations
- Government and Regulatory Bodies

Nordic added value
The Nordic approach brings a unique blend of innovation, sustainability, and collaboration to the global semiconductor stage. By pooling expertise and resources across borders, the region continues to position itself as a key player in the industry. The planned activities in 2025 will build on the foundations laid in previous years while actively seeking new ways to enhance visibility, improve industry connections, and drive innovation. The collective strength of Finland, Norway, and Sweden ensures that the Nordic semiconductor ecosystem is not only competitive but also future-ready.
