Transparent conductive oxides (TCOs), especially indium tin oxide (ITO), are vital for the semiconductor industry but face supply chain vulnerabilities in Europe due to reliance on East Asian sources and the critical status of indium. Recycling TCOs remains challenging, and there is a lack of practical experience in scalable production and commercialization within Europe.
This project, led by Mat4greenTech AB (Sweden) and IFE (Norway), aims to establish zero-emission TCO production, demonstrate industrial benefits, and develop effective recycling strategies. The initiative will build a Nordic consortium, strengthen collaboration, and advance both the technical and engineering aspects of TCO production and recycling, with the goal of creating a sustainable, low-carbon value chain for semiconductor manufacturing.
