Background
The Nordics are recognized for their strong innovation ecosystems, research capabilities, and leadership in sustainable and user-centric technologies, while Asia-Pacific (APAC) markets around hubs such as Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore and Mumbai, offer scale, investment, and fast-growing digital economies where solutions can be rapidly deployed. Both the Nordics as well as mentioned hubs, share similar approaches to innovation, including strong public–private collaboration, active startup ecosystems, and government-supported innovation programs. Interest in crossregional engagement has increased as Nordic innovators look to APAC for growth and co-development opportunities, while APAC stakeholders seek global technology partners.
This creates a momentum for Nordic Innovation and the Nordic trade promoting organizations (TPOs) to cross-regionally promote innovation and exports and not least attracting investments in areas such as AI, smart industry, space & dual use, and biotech & life science.
The program is expected to result in stronger connections between Nordic innovators and key stakeholders across the mentioned Asia-Pacific ecosystems, including corporates, investors, government agencies, and research institutions. It will introduce new ways of working between Nordic partners and APAC stakeholders, enabling structured exchanges, joint innovation initiatives, and deeper ecosystem integration across both regions.
Nordic added value
The program should give increased visibility and strengthened ecosystem engagement to showcase Nordic innovations in selected highpotential markets in APAC and facilitate investments into the Nordics. The program aims at four outgoing delegations from the Nordics to APAC and two incoming delegations, both to all three countries of Finland, Norway and Sweden.
