The Nordic Smart City Roadmap is a framework for smart city work in cities and municipalities both in the Nordics and internationally. The Roadmap is based on already existing smart city models and strategies in all the Nordic countries, and describes how Nordic cities and municipalities can take the lead in collaboration processes and benefit from digital technologies while at the same time protecting and promoting the interest of their citizens.
Workshop at Nordic Edge
Following the launch, the Nordic Smart City Network will organize an open workshop to discuss how social values, citizen involvement and trust can play a stronger role in tackling societal challenges, and how these principles can be implemented in the Nordics and internationally.
The workshop will be held 20 September 12:30 - 14:00.
During this session there will be discussissions on how the Nordic Smart City Roadmap can contribute to a more human-centric, inclusive and collaborative approach to develop smarter and more sustainable communities.
Strengthen the posistion as a leading smart city region
The Roadmap was developed as part of the Nordic Smart City Model project, where municipalities and organizations from the Nordic countries worked together to define a smart city model based on Nordic social values and the exceptional work already done in the different Nordic countries.
The ambition is to strengthen the Nordic region's position as a leading smart city region globally by offering an alternative smart city model that puts the quality of life of its citizens at the center. In the current covid-19 situation, this is more crucial than ever in order to stimulate the development smart, sustainable and resilient communities of the future.
The model describes how Nordic cities and municipalities can act as drivers and facilitators for collaborative processes, and use new technology while protecting and putting forward the interests of the inhabitants.
The project consortium was made up by the following partners:
- Nordic Smart City Network

- Design and Architecture Norway (DOGA)
