Raw material supply is of great strategic and geopolitical importance as metals and minerals are essential for the twin transition. The Nordic countries have great potential for many of the raw materials EU identifies as critical. This gives the Nordic countries a special role and responsibility.
With keywords being knowledge, networking and news, the Nordic Forum on Raw Materials brings together professionals in the mining and minerals sector, in business, academia, politics, finance, and from relevant authorities. The overall aim of the network is to strengthen the Nordic mining and minerals cluster.
The network is a digital platform where members can connect, stay up to date with industry news and share information.
“The Nordic region has a long tradition of making the most of the resources the land provides. At the same time, the Nordic region also stands for quality, transparency and sustainability. At a time where we need to increase self-sufficiency in raw materials, we have initiated the Nordic Forum on Raw Materials as a new Nordic collaboration platform. By sharing knowledge and experience we believe that we can strengthen the Nordic metals and minerals sector,” says Svein Berg, Managing Director at Nordic Innovation.
The network is relevant for professionals from the Nordic raw materials sector as well as people working in business, academia, government, politics and finance.
Annual summit and seminars
Besides the digital network platform, members of the Nordic Forum on Raw Materials will also be able to participate in annual summits and a series of seminars. The first summit takes place in Stockholm on 3-4 October 2024. The seminars will take place at Nordic universities with the first one at Luleå University in autumn 2024 – more information will follow!
