In pursuit of EU Mission Ocean’s objectives, Blue Mission BANOS’ 1st Mission Arena will take place in Gothenburg, Sweden. Through interactive sessions, workshops, pitching events, demonstrations and networking, the 1st Mission Arena will serve as a laboratory to:

  • Pave the way for innovative blue economy solutions in the Western Baltic.
  • Showcase local, regional and national approaches for a circular, carbon-neutral blue economy.
  • Provide concrete pathways for the EU's Mission Ocean’s success.

Nordic Innovations involvement

November 15: A Joint Nordic Push Towards Multi-use at Sea
Senior Innovation Adviser Thordur Reynisson will speak about the ocean economy program and what we have accomplished so far, including multi-use initiatives. Part of the session "From Benefits to Business: Strategizing Commercialization of Ocean Multi-use with UNITED."

November 16: Panel on multi-use blueprint and transferability
Panel discussion on how the recommendations for multi-use developed in the UNITED project can be implemented in different regions. Innovation Adviser Emil Gejrot will provide the Nordic perspective.

November 16: Hacking the Ocean with Multi-use and Future Opportunities
Presentation of the 'Multi use at sea' hackathon and its results, as well as the launch of the main call for proposals. Speakers include Alexandra Leeper from Iceland Ocean Cluster, Senior Innovation Adviser Thordur Reynisson and possibly a hackathon winner.

Emil has extensive experience of innovation projects and policy analysis in the Nordic region and beyond. Before joining Nordic Innovation, he worked for a research consultancy where he focused on digital transformation, inclusion, and sustainability. He holds an MA in Transcultural Studies and has lived and worked in Sweden, Norway, the UK, and Germany.
