For the first time in partnership with renowned French business news outlet Les Echos, the Nordic countries are organising a series of three short Nordic Talks of 30 minutes each. The talks will be broadcast live on the Les Echos website and will focus on the Nordic way of life and its impact on urbanity, green development and construction.

The three talks will feature several results from our several of Nordic Innovation's activities related to cities. You will among other things learn more about:

  • Healthy Liveable Neighbourhoods: An agile project where several Nordic citiescollaborate to find solutions to improve the health and wellness of their citizens.

The talks will be in English with French subtitles. The Nordic Talks podcasts and events are co-funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers.

The three Nordic Talks

09:00 – Feel Wood

The construction industry is one of the most polluting in the world, but there is great potential to reduce its impact on the environment and make it more sustainable. The use of wood in sustainable buildings can represent a reduction of carbon footprint, allowing biological circularity. Additionally, wood creates a better indoor climate and makes us humans feel closer to nature.

In this talk, Nikolaj Sveistrup from Urban Agenda will talk about sustainable building and the use of wood in the Nordic region. Sveistrup has been involved in several of the activities in Nordic Sustainable Cities special initiative.

09:35 – Innovative Collaboration Models for Sustainable Urban Development

A talk about how future regional authorities can improve the life quality of citizens and contribute to greater business development, without compromising the environment and the needs of future generations.

In this talk, Malin Kock Hansen from DogA will tell more about the Nordic Sustainable Cities Exhibition and how the Nordic counties have collaborated to export Nordic sustainable urban solutions.

10:05 – Green Lifestyle, Green Spaces and Healthy Neighbourhoods

A talk about how cities can adopt more green infrastructure solutions and use green spaces to support the wellbeing of citizens. Green infrastructure solutions ensure the biodiversity of urban ecosystems and can support cities in becoming more climate-friendly.

In this talk, Kaisa Spilling from Forum Virium Helsinki will tell more about how Nordic cities are collaboration through the Healthy Liveable Neighbourhoods agile project.
