Tourism in the Nordics

Program 2018 - 2024 Active

The economic impact of tourism has been highlighted as one of the fastest growing sectors in the world economy and the tourism industry has been booming in the Nordic countries. This presents both new challenges and possibilities.

Tourism has been high on the agenda of the Nordic Council of Ministers in the recent years. Tourism is a complex sector and affects multiple parts of the economy which makes identifying and aligning common goals challenging. At the same time, tourism has the potential to contribute to economic growth, social inclusion and environmental awareness.

Tourism in the Nordics is a Nordic Innovation special initiative that aims to facilitate Nordic cooperation on innovation in the tourism industry, and contribute to a more environmentally, socially and economically sustainable region. The focus is on development of new sustainable business models and innovative digital solutions.
