Nordic Innovation’s mission for the period 2025-2027 is described in the work plan for the business sector. This work plan outlines three focus areas to be prioritized by the sector. The three focus areas are setting the overall frames for Nordic Innovation’s work from 2025-2027.
More concrete innovation areas and programs will be developed under the frames of the three focus areas in the first part of 2025. We suggest you follow our newsletter to keep updated with our new initiatives.
Focus areas 2025-2027
Promote green and innovative solutions
Collaboration to accelerate the green and digital transition should involve initiatives aimed at developing new and innovative green solutions that address relevant stages of the life cycle, create Nordic added value, and support the competitiveness of Nordic businesses.
Digital solutions, use of data and data sharing
The focus area supports Nordic businesses in leveraging new digital and green solutions and contributes to collaboration aimed at making the Nordic region a leader in sustainable business models and the circular economy.
Strengthened cooperation on improved access to financing and internationalization
Access to financing is a key issue for Nordic businesses and a crucial prerequisite for the development, scaling, and market introduction of green solutions. Efforts can address different forms of financing with a particular focus on mobilizing private capital. The initiatives should be based on identified market failures in defined areas, where Nordic initiatives can complement existing national and international efforts.

These are the programs from the previous period, which ran from 2021-2024. The programs are now completed, but there are several projects within the programs that are still active.
AI and Data: The Nordic Region as a leading region in digitalisation, AI and responsible use of data.
Circular Business Models: The Nordic Region as a leader in Circular and Sustainable Business Models.
Life Science and Health Tech: The Nordic Region as a leader in life science and health technology.
Nordic Green Mobility: The Nordic Region as a leader in green mobility.
Smart Connectivity: The Nordic Region as a leader in smart connectivity.
Sustainable Construction: The Nordic Region as a leader in sustainable and competitive construction and housing with minimized environmental and climate impact.
Sustainable Minerals: The Nordic Region as a leader in sustainable mineral production.
Sustainable Ocean Economy: The Nordic Region as a leader in the development of a sustainable ocean economy.
