Nordic Innovation Marine Marketing Program (NIMMP)

The project goal is to improve the Nordic Marine Companies‘ international competitiveness by engaging students in consulting solution projects that could increase the Nordic Marine value proposition.
  • Published 23/01/2012

The project will set up a Nordic Marine Bootcamp, where Nordic students will be given the task of coming up with solutions to a specific sector-related problem. The bootcamp will be videotaped.

The intention is to inspire students to use university know-how to create added value in the Nordic Marine sector, and increase cooperation between organizations in Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Faroe  Islands. The project builds on existing activities, rather than compete with them. By giving a quality stamp to the work processes of Nordic Marine Industries, the project aims to strengthen the brand of the Nordic Marine  industry internationally.

WHY

Students in general do not consider the Marine sector as an attractive industry to work in, and those who do, have a hard time finding education opportunities relevant to the industry. This development has led to a rise in the average age of people working in the industry and fewer graduate applicants within the industry.

At the same time the industry itself seems hesitant to try out new innovative methods in order to rectify this issue. If companies within the industry attract more graduated students in innovative jobs, it will indicate a higher probability of optimization in numerous sectors within the value chain of the industry.

VISION

The project will produce a video that should:

  1. lead to more students applying for numerous educational programs within
    the marine industry,
  2. lead more students to applying for jobs within the marine industry,
  3. change the way numerous marine instititutions, companies and key players
view innovative methods to optimize and improve all kinds of working
    processes within the industry.

Quality videos and images should make it easier to attract relevant press  and review.

At least three types of  video clips will be produced:

Firstly as short 30 second video clip for internet/advertising purposes of the industry.

Secondly a short 2:30 second video for internet/advertising purposes.

Thirdly a 15-25 minute episode  detailing the work and processes throughout the project, with main focus on the marine student bootcamp.
