Nordic Innovation Annual Report 2011

In 2011 we have worked proactively to facilitate innovation, cooperation, and initiatives and sharing competence in and between the Nordic countries, as well as interacting on the international arena.

• 06.03.2003Need to know - Nordic innovation policies for the future

  The Nordic Industrial Fund has, through its initiative in the SME Forum, completed the first round of seven projects linked to the Nordic countries' innovation and enterprise policies. This report offers a short description of the projects together with results. Our objective in this undertaking has been to make a contribution to the development of innovation policies in the Nordic countries.

  Innovation is considered the engine of technological change and economic growth. Hence innovation policy lays much of the foundation for the future welfare development of the Nordic countries. It is therefore important that they develop sensible, coherent strategies in this area, as well as a set of policy measures that meet the specific needs of each countrys industry.

• 03.03.2003Flows of human capital in the Nordic countries 1988-1998

  Competence is a key ingredient for innovation and growth. The prosperity of a nation depends on the knowledge, skills and experience that can be put to work in the operation and development of its economic and social life. Research, education of the young, and lifelong learning are being heralded as crucial mechanisms for supplying businesses and the public sector alike with new and updated competence.

  Projektet behandlar utvecklingen av entreprenörskapspolitik i de nordiska länderna. En utgångspunkt i projektet har varit ett antagande om att vi skulle finna liknande förutsättningar och sammanhang i de olika nordiska länderna, s.k. kontexter.

• 03.03.2003Den nordiske kunnskapsarbeidsplassen (DEKAR)

  Vi har foretaget en undersøgelse af udviklingen indenfor arbejdspladsdesign i de nordiske lande. Undersøgelsen har haft til formål både at tegne et billede af, hvordan det ser ud i de enkelte lande samt dokumentere, nogen af de aktiviteter, der finder sted i Norden.

• 02.03.2003Behov for nordisk FoU statistikk

  Det er flere grunner til at de nordiske land ønsker økt samarbeid om FoU-statistikken. Sammenfattet kan man for det første si at de nordiske FoU-statistikk-produsentene, ved å stå samlet på internasjonale møter i regi av Eurostat og OECD, i sterkere grad være med å prege arbeidet med å utvikle vitenskaps- og teknologi-indikatorene.

  Basert på en gjennomgang av erfaringer med tidligere miljøsatsinger og spesifikke miljøtemaer samt en vurdering av nasjonale prioriteringer og satsninger, har gruppen kommet frem til følgende 5 hovedanbefalinger for videre miljøoppfølging i Fondet:

• 01.03.2003Behind the music - profiting from sound

  The popular music industry is a growing industry and an important contributor to national economies. Up until recently much of the public policy attention music has received has been in terms of cultural and social policy rather than the industrial policy and support it needs.

• 01.03.2003Sustainable tourism development

  The main goal of the project was to establish a long-term working model and project concept for a sustainable arctic tourism development. In order to reach this goal, the current practises of Northern tourism enterprises and their needs – current as well as future - were analysed and compiled. Special emphasis was placed on identifying successful tools and practices to improve the SMEs sustainability.

• 28.02.2003Erhvervsudvikling og bredbåndsnet i nordens yderområder

  Med stigende satsning på udvikling af indformations- og kommunikationsteknologier tales om at betydningen af afstandsfaktoren ændres, og dermed at yderområders indplacering i arbejdsdelingen - og dermed i udviklingsprocessen - ændres. Hvis det er tilfældet er det nyttigt at vide mere om hvilket potentiale for erhvervs og egnsudvikling i yderområderne etablering af bredbåndsforbindelser rummer, og hvordan dette potentiale kan realiseres.

  Målet med projektet har varit att karakterisera olika slags finmaterial och att pröva några nya metoder som kan beskriva finmaterialets egenskaper. Vart och ett institut (KCL, YKI, Åbo Akademi, PFI og STFI) har bidragit med sin egen specialitet till helheten. Företrädelsevis har finmaterial från de gemensamma projektmassorna undersökts.

  Electronic marketplaces with several buyers and many sellers will become increasingly important to enable companies to successfully reach their target markets, and effectively buy and sell products. By an electronic marketplace, we mean a web site with trading functions for several buying and selling companies where the provider of the web site has no control over the prices of the products.

• 28.02.2003LCA: Mark 6 Geografi

  Markanvändningen i skogsbruk är svår att införliva i LCA. Största stötestenarna är det långa tidsperspektivet, komplexiteten i att definiera och mäta biodiversitet, och svårigheten att få fram data. I projektet har befintliga metoder för värdering av markanvändning utvärderats.

• 28.02.2003Comwood - IT-samarbete mellan nordiska småföretag i träindustrin

  På initiativ av Nordiska Ministerrådet och Nordisk Industrifond har ett projekt genomförts med målsättningen att etablera nya konkreta samarbetsformer mellan småföretag inom träindustrin i de nordiska länderna genom att utveckla en plattform för marknadsföring, produktion och logistik.

• 25.02.2003Nordic MEMS - Status and possibilities

  Microsystems, or small, functional components, will be the key components in systems realizing “the instrumentation society” we are entering during the next 5-10 years. There are numerous possible applications for microsystems. As a breakthrough technology, allowing unparalleled synergy between previously unrelated fields such as biology and microelectronics, many new microsystems applications will emerge, expanding beyond that which is currently identified or known.

• 25.02.2003Innovations in Ink-Jet Technology (NATTKLINIK)

  It is the scope of this Nordic R&D project on "Innovative development of the ink-jet technology" to utilise the outcome of national research programmes and to establish a Nordic network of research institutes, material suppliers, printer manufacturers and end users of the ink-jet technology.

• 25.02.2003High Temperature Polymer Methanol Fuel Cell

  Målsætningen ved dette projekt er at udvikle en højtemperatur- polymerbrændselscelle med reformeret methanol som brændsel.

• 24.02.2003Kvalitetsforbedring af industrielt skrællede og friterede kartofler

  Målet av projektet var att skapa en förklarande modell som relaterar kvalitetsegenskaper av potatisprodukter, särskilt de friterade produkter, med processbetingelser, det vil visa en modell som omfattar förståelse av genom vilka mekanismer kvalitetsegenskaperna påverkas.

• 24.02.2003Kjøttprodukter med bedre funksjonelle egenskaper

  Hensikten med nettverksprosjektet var å etablere kontakt mellom tre nordiske forskningsmiljøer, Danmarks Jordbrugsforskning (DJF), De Islandske Fiskerilaboratorier (Rf) og SINTEF Fiskeri og havbruk AS (SFH). For å samordne bruk av våre respektive målemetoder og diskutere hvordan vi i framtiden skal kunne tilby vår kompetanse inn mot kjøtt- og fiskebasert industri i Norden, har vi avholdt to møter. I tillegg er det avholdt telefonmøter.
