Open data takes centre stage when eight Nordic hacker teams compete to win the Hack4Norden 2016 pitching competition at Slush in Helsinki 1 December.

Data is emerging as one of the most important drivers of innovation. Some call it “the new oil”, an “economic super driver” and a “future x-factor”. At the Hack4Norden pitching competition at tech startup conference Slush in Helsinki, eight Nordic hacker teams will try to prove that.

The pitching competition will take place in Hall 2 at the Slush arena 1 December from 12 to 14. Join the event on Facebook!

All the eight teams, who qualified for Hack4Norden through national hackathons, have developed solutions that utilise open data sets to solve societal challenges ranging from saving wildlife to enhancing museum visits while having a clear business potential.

Supporting data driven innovation

The Hack4Norden pitching competition is hosted by Nordic Innovation together with various partners (see below). The goal is to support the development of new innovative companies and to show the value and possibilities of data, as well as to push the acknowledgement of data utilisation in public and private organisations.

All the solutions and ideas competing at Hack4Norden have a Nordic dimension – either solving a societal challenge or elevating the region’s cultural heritage.

Digital pioneers

Hack4Norden is part of the lighthouse project Innovative Nordic Digital Solutions initiated by the Nordic Ministers of Business, with the overall goal of developing the Nordic region into a pioneer region for new and innovative digital solutions.
