    In order to gain a competitive advantage in the world marketplace, Nordic industries need to press forward in several critical research areas. For cast load-carrying and work producing components and structures there is a need to integrate efficient FE based analysis tools, reliable information on defect size, shape and location, and expertise on how complex variable amplitude and multi-axial loading influence fatigue damage in cast materials.

    Förstudie utförd av Nordic Investment Solutions, Stockholm den 19 november 2004 Den nordiska riskkapitalmarknaden är en viktig del i den nordiska innovationskedjan och bidrar till ekonomisk tillväxt och framväxt av nya näringsområden. Inget av de nordiska länderna är stort nog för en effektiv och väl fungerande marknad men tillsamman utgör länderna en god plattform för att bygga en gemensam riskkapitalmarknad med internationell konkurrenskraft.

    A summary review of the main findings of the study shows that while the existing and proposed policy reforms have been extensive, there remain a number of important gaps. There are important differences in what kinds of recommendations can work in the respective countries and the country studies provide ample detail on the particular situation in this respect.

    Nordiska ministerrådet för näringspolitik (MR-näring) beslöt i slutet av 2003 att ge den nordiska ämbetsmannakommittén för näringspolitik (ÄK-näring) uppdraget att utarbeta ett förslag till program för sektorns innovationspolitiska samarbete fram till år 2010.

    The project studies the creation and performance of new establishments and enterprises in the Nordic countries, utilising administrative register data compiled by the national statistical agencies on enterprises, establishments and employees. Among the many different aspects brought up during the study, the central theme concerns how one specific category of new establishments perform, namely those that can be identified as “high-tech spin-offs”.

    The goal of the project was to set up a Nordic consortium that would plan a new approach in studying brain disease therapies and mechanisms. The indication areas was restricted to four major diseases namely stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and brain trauma.

    ”The Nordic region as a frontrunner in research and innovation” was the theme of the conference hosted by the Nordic Council of Ministers, Iceland (its chair) and the Nordic Innovation Centre on 10 June 2004. Delegates included decision- and policymakers in the Nordic innovation system. An important aim of the conference was to discuss and generate feedback to the newly presented policy document, ”Proposals for a collaborative Nordic programme on innovation policy 2005-2010” (”The Book of Innovation”).

    The purpose of this preliminary survey has been to review the current status of innovation activities of art and design institutions in the Nordic and Baltic region. First of all, the survey aims to highlight the innovation supporting services provided by the most important art and design universities in Nordic and Baltic countries. Secondly, the fact how design is integrated to the national innovation systems is analysed from each country’s point of view.
  • 28.2.2004The potential in e-business has been far from exploited

    Over 4,300 enterprises – with at least 10 employees – in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden have participated in this survey of E-business Nordic.com 2003. E-business covers all business applications of internet technology, the purpose of which is to improve, change or promote efficiency in, the enterprise and organisation. E-business therefore includes all communication via the internet; internally in the enterprise via an intranet and externally via an extranet with customers, suppliers and partners.
