The conference will be held at Den Blå Planet, Northern Europe's largest aquarium with more than 20,000 animals and seven million litres of water. A perfect venue to summarize and reflect about the Nordic Marine Innovation Programme and the 14 projects

13:00 Frank Asche "Blue growth in the marine sector - the way forward"

Asche is a professor at the Department of Industrial Economics, Risk Management and Planning at the University of Stavanger (UiS). He has conducted research in the areas of productivity, innovation, market demand og value chain management, with main focus on the seafood and energy sector. He conducts research for industry and governments, informing policy and strategy regionally, nationally and internationally. With Asche’s extensive knowledge of the marine sector, he will address the potential and challenges within the area of blue growth. 


13:30 Working session: "Growth in the blue bioeconomy"
In 2015 Denmark will hold the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers. The Faroe Islands will be in charge of the Nordic Fisheries cooperation and wish to focus on "growth in the blue bioeconomy". Therefore, the Faroese Ministry of Fisheries invites the conference participants to discuss next year’s Presidency. The results will be used in the further preparation of the programme for 2015. It should be noted that the projects initiated in the 2015 precedency in the Nordic cooperation are three-year projects.
